Spending the night with Grandpa and Grandma

Shaelyn got to spend the night on Friday over at Grandpa and Grandma's because I was going to be working at the floral shop. Katelyn wasn't coming home from the dorms till later on Saturday and Dave had to go to work in the morning as well.
So she had her suitcase packed and ready to go on Thursday night. She was quite excited because she has never done this before. So when I picked her up Saturday morning, she had a lot to tell me.
She got to stay up late - till 10:00. "Mom never lets me stay up late!"
When she work up in the morning, she told Grandpa and Grandma it was going to be a busy day. First, we have to eat breakfast, then we have to make bread, then we have to go sledding. So Grandpa made oatmeal - but he did it wrong. He cooked it on the stove. (I always do it in the microwave). Grandma fixed it by putting brown sugar on it. Yum! Then they made poppy seed bread. There was a special little loaf baked, just for Shaelyn to take home. There's a slice in her lunch today. After that, they went sledding. Now I thought it was just down the little hill off their deck. No - I was wrong. It was back further - about 1/4 mile away. Can you just imagine Ann - who is 78 years old, trekking through knee deep snow? She told me it was really deep too. Yes, I believe it. It's been snowing for weeks here! This is just snow on back hills that nobody has been through. So she went sledding down the hill with Shaelyn too. No, she didn't break any bones. Whew! One time, she gave Shaelyn a push and didn't realize that she would go so far - she ended up in the creek. That was the end of the sledding - Shaelyn had mittens that were soaked and wet feet. But overall, it was a fun time. She was getting a grilled cheese sandwich to eat as I came. I was told that it was more fun over there than at home. Can you believe that?

(it's another snow day today)

Grandma is a super woman! I do believe she did all that though- that sounds just like her!
What a fun time for Shaelyn. I bet Grandma and Grandpa's ears are tired now.

AWW!! I bet she had such a great time. And I'm sure she wasn't the only one. Although I bet Grandpa and Ann slept good that night! :) I'm very impressed with them for going sledding even! I don't think I would have been out there!

Isn't it great that she got to do this? Time spent with Grandpa and Grandma is special. I'm impressed Ann went sledding too. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have!

Amen to what Bonnie said!!

Once after my mom had taken my second born to a movie, he told her that I was no fun.

Children just have no concept of what we parents do on their behalf!!!!!

Blogging or scrap booking--any kind of record keeping with photos-- is such a great way for us to "prove" to our kids that we do have fun and lots of it!!!!!:)

It is such a blessing, though, when kids get to spend special time with their grandparents and make wonderful memories.

But isn't that what grandma's and grandpa's are for? :)

I'm glad she had a special time with them!
