It's Tulip Time

We went to Holland Saturday night to check out a little bit of Tulip Time. First, Chelsea had to check out the Spanish festival that was going on. She got some bonus points for Spanish class for going. Then we wanted to spend a lot more time at Tulip Festival except it started to rain. We went to Dutch village and walked around there for a while. These were some of the best pictures I could get before it really started to pour.

Here are the girls in front of a bunch of the wooden shoes that they were selling. Did you know that the Dutch made wooden shoes because of the scarcity of leather? I never knew that. I guess I better study up a bit more on my heritage!
Chelsea is marching in the parade today. I'm quite scared that she's going to get wet as they are predicting rain throughout the day. She's got to march again on Saturday in the big parade of bands. Hopefully, the weather will be better then. I'll try to get a picture of her in her uniform if she'll let me!

We started a tradition with Lindsey and Beto of giving them a pair of wooden shoes at their wedding. Someday if we have grandkids they will get their own shoes to set out at Christmas waiting for treats.

Soon we will head to buy Alicia and Alfred's shoes :)

Hope Chelsea stays dry! I hope we make it out to Holland before the end of the week.

I really love these pictures! It gives me a glimpse of the culture in your part of the world. Hey, those are mighty BIG shoes your girls are holding! What a fun time for your girls and for Chelsea to get to march in the band! I hope it doesn't rain.

My mother was dutch dancing every year up to 2 years ago. She doesn't get home from her time in Arizona anymore to make it to the practices. I made Zack and Anna costumes when they were little. I can't wait to put them on Grandkids. Too cute!

Those tulips are beautiful. I'm afraid Chelsea is going to be wet. It was raining here and I heard it was in Holland as well.

don't worry, i stayed dry. i stayed dry the whole time, except while we were waiting it started raining but only for a couple minutes. plus, our uniforms are water repellent so i didn't get wet at all.

A Spanish Festival in Dutch country? How interesting.

We used to live in Iowa not far from Orange City. We enjoyed their Tulip Festival.
